Fillings/Restoration
Cavities are essentially small areas of decay in your teeth caused by the bacteria that live in plaque. When detected early on, these cavities can be reliably treated with a filling. At Kirkwood Family Dental, we utilize tooth-colored composite filling material to not only restore damaged tooth structure, but also do so in the most conservative and inconspicuous way. Composite restorations closely match the rest of the tooth color so as to provide a seamless result. During a filling appointment, you will be given local anesthetic injection to numb the tooth. The damaged part of the tooth is carefully removed. Then, a bonding agent is applied followed by the filling material. The filling is contoured and smoothed to match the adjacent teeth and your bite. By the end of the appointment, the tooth will be ready to function normally.
